Jensen Ford Finds Victory Lane at Volunteer Speedway

Jensen Ford took his Whitehead Construction Inc. No. 83 Stanco Equipment/ Shoun Trucking/ TNT Race Cars Late Model into battle on Friday evening at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.), and came away with his first win of the 2020 campaign.

“We’ve been fast, not real good luck,” Ford commented. “We finally had a little luck on Friday night.”

With the 16 Late Models registered in for action at “The Gap,” Ford laid down the fastest time overall in qualifying with a 13.276 second lap. Rolling off the on pole of the feature, Jensen led wire-to-wire to capture his first win of the season and a $1,000 payday. Jason Cardwell, Shannon Emery, Taylor Coffman, and Jacob Owens trailed him the checkers in the 30-lap affair.

“When you’re out front, you can control the pace and where you want to run,” Ford said. “It was a lot harder for the cars behind me, especially where the holes were. There were definite lines you had to run and if you missed them, you got into some bad holes. It was a very physical race tonight.”

Saturday night found Jensen at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) for the ninth annual J.T. Kerr Memorial, which honored the late found of Stinger Chassis. Like the previous night, Jensen again topped the speed charts in qualifying. Cruising to an 8-lap heat race victory, Ford locked into the pole position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main.

With Randy Weaver setting the pace early, Jensen followed behind closely in his TNT Race Cars entry. After Gregg Martin inherited the lead late, Ford was unable to close the distance on him and Martin, marking him second on the rundown with Trevor Sise, Josh Henry, and Jason Cardwell rounding out the Top-5.
