Dills Runs into Engine Woes at Cottage Grove Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 17, 2016) – There’s not much worse for a sprint car driver than to hear strange sounds coming from the engine. That’s exactly what Patrick Dills experienced last Friday at Cottage Grove Speedway.

The night began with Dills timing in second quickest in qualifying before rallying from fourth to second place in a heat race. He then placed third in the dash.

“In the dash I heard something in the motor,” he said. “After the dash we pushed it back off and let the engine builder listen to it and he told us to park it. It’s a shame because the car was pretty good all night.”

Dills said he’s awaiting word from the engine builder on the extent of the damages.

“We were scheduled to be off this coming week so that gives us a little time to get things put back together,” Dills said. “I’m excited to race the 360 sprint car coming up.”

The mechanical woes dropped Dills from atop the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints point standings to fifth. He will return to action in 360ci sprint car competition on May 28-29 at Cottage Grove Speedway.
