Dills Places Seventh Against 360s at Cottage Grove Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (Aug. 4, 2014) – Patrick Dills recorded his best career finish in a 360ci sprint car race when he earned a top 10 last Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway.

Competing in his Northwest Extreme Sprints race car, which has approximately 200 horsepower less than a 360ci engine, Dills scored a seventh-place finish at the quarter-mile oval.

“We tried a new setup that I really adapted to and it certainly gave me more confidence,” he said.

Dills opened the night by qualifying seventh quickest. After finishing fourth in his heat race, he lined up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.

“I pretty much battled around seventh or eighth the whole race,” he said. “When Roger (Crockett) and Colin (Baker) put me a lap down I followed them to study their line. I think that really helped my learning curve as well.”

The seventh-place result marked the ninth top 10 of the season for Dills, who will return to Northwest Extreme Sprints competition this Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway.

He currently ranks fifth in the championship standings.
