Florida driver picks up his first career win with Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt.

07/17/2015 (Auburn, MI) On a very warm night at Tri-City Motor Speedway, The Sprints on Dirt made their second and final appearance at the 3/8ths mile dirt track of this year to try and break the track record and race. The packed crowd was ready to see these sprints fly around the Auburn clay.

The Engine Sprints on Dirt started off the night with qualifying and a chance to break the track record. Fast time would go to #49T Gregg Dalman qualifying with a 13.159, but falling short of the track record. After three very quick and caution free heat races #7K Kyle Pitts out of Florida would start on the pole in the A-Main. He led the field to the green flag and would continue to lead in a dominating fashion. Pitts would pull away by a straightaway every time they were bunched back together, once his car had clean air, it was hard to beat him. Pitts would lead lap one all the way to the final lap as #7K Kyle Pitts would pick up the win and also pick up his first career win in the Engine Sprints on Dirt. #27 Brad Lamberson would end up in second, #11R Chase Ridenour would finish third, #22M Dan McCarron in fourth and #31 Andy Teunessen in fifth.

The IMCA Modifieds would hit the track next in their 20-lap feature event. #61 Frank Evans III would lead the field to the green flag and would lead for a very short amount of time. #187 Gavin Hunyady would find some room on lap two and take the lead. He would lead for a good amount of time and as two cautions gathered the field back together, #20W A.J. Ward made his way through the pack to take the lead on lap fifteen. Usually when Ward takes the lead he is hard to take it for and that was the same results tonight as #20W A.J. Ward would pick up his fifth win of the season in the IMCA Modifieds. #511 Chaz Pray had a great run and would finish in the second position. He was followed by #187 Gavin Hunyady, The current points leader, #7D Myron DeYoung and #19F Joe Fowler would round out the top five.

The Elgin Pro Stocks had their chance to show what they got as they took the track next for their 20-lap feature. #10B Joe Batts would lead the pack of fourteen cars to the green flag. Batts would only hold that lead for a corner as the #99 Rick Beauchamp would make a great run on the high side coming out of turn two and pass three cars to take the lead. Beauchamp would continue to lead to about the halfway point, until the man to beat in the Pro Stocks found his way up there. #21 Steven Hilliker made his way to the front, found some room down low and took the lead from Beauchamp. Three cautions came out which give the drivers a chance to gather back up to Hilliker but, it did not help as #21 Steven Hilliker proves once again why he is the points leader as he pick up his eighth win of the season and increasing his points lead over second place finisher, #M65 Rick Spencer. Finishing in the third position, #K11 Kendall Morrison, followed by #21D Darren Mularz in fourth and #27 Rob Westergard in fifth.

The Auburn Hotel Bar and Grill Street Stock were up next in their 20-lap feature in a race many fans think was the race of the year. #72K Bob Kosha would start of on the pole and would lead the field for quite a bit has he showed he had a strong running car. He didn't have the strongest car though as past winner this year #57 T.J. Gilbert would find some room on the high side and take the lead on lap eight. He would have his hands full with six to go as last year’s champion #28 Jared Rizer and last week’s winner, #7R Dave Newcomb were running side-by-side right behind him. As they came to the final lap Rizer and Newcomb were still side-by-side trying to find a way around Gilbert. Coming out of turn two Gilbert lost some speed and Newcomb took a look down low. Rizer looked up high has they were three wide coming into turn three and would remain three wide coming out of turn four. In a exciting race to the line, #7R Dave Newcomb would edge out Rizer and the spinning Gilbert to the line to pick up his fourth win of the season in the Street stocks and increase his points lead. #28 Jared Rizer would finish in second by a few inches over third place finisher #57 T.J. Gilbert. #3C Mitch Clements and #67 Ryan Fitzgerald would round out the top five.

The night would conclude with a 12-lap shootout by the Steven's Cycle Sales and Services Bombers Stocks with a pack of drivers who were look to beat Jack Freese and pick-up their second win on the season. #77 Stacie Staszak, the winner of the heat race, would lead the pack to the green flag. She would not be able to hold it for long as #21 Andy Koczenasz would find some room quickly down low and take the lead for Staszak coming out of turn four. Points leader, #09 Jack Freese would find his way into the second position and would try to catch Koczenasz but he did not have the car to do it that night as #21 Andy Koczenasz would pick up his second win on the season in the bomber. #09 Jack Freeze would finish second, #77 Stacie Staszak finishes third and #13 Preston DeShano would end up in fourth.

Coming up this Friday at Tri-City Motor speed way is the second annual Faster Pastor race. Pastors will race and see if they can pick up the win and receive the gold and pick-up some extra cash for a charity of their choice. Also, the Street Stocks will race it out in a 33-lap event as the winner will take home a cool $555 and drivers can earn some even more money as if they start the race three-wide making a extra $105. There will also be the Late Models and IMCA Modifieds in action as well. Then on July 31, it is Mystery night. What’s going to happen? Well we will have to wait and see.
