Bill Lester And Jordan Taylor Reunite With Autohaus Motorsports For Indy.
2011 Grand-AM Rolex Series winners Bill Lester & Jordan Taylor will reunite with their 2011 championship contending team, Autohaus Motorsports, to drive the No. 88 Chevy Camaro GT.R in the Grand-AM Rolex Series at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday, July 27th. The race will be televised live at 4:00PM EST on SPEED.
The duo was amongst the fastest of the GT cars during Grand-AM testing sessions held at the track on July 6th and 7th. They look to go even faster for their Indy debut in order to compete for the win in the GT class.
When asked about his recent testing experience at “The Brickyard”, Bill stated “This place is amazing. With all of the tradition and prestige of this track, it’s truly humbling to be here and to be a part of the first professional sports car race hosted by this facility will be an honor. When asked about working with Autohaus Motorsports again, Bill indicated “It felt nice to be back with the team. It took a minute to get back in the grove of things after having not driven the Camaro GT.R since September of last year, but by the end of the test I was right where I needed to be. I’m definitely looking forward to the race”.
Autohaus Motorsports had a breakthrough season in 2011 emerging from underdog status to championship contender.
Jordan Taylor and Bill Lester took the team to its first victory at Virginia International Raceway early in the season, and were in the hunt for the Rolex Series GT title until the final checkered flag.
In an edge of your seat season finale, GM factory driver Taylor took over the No. 88 Autohaus Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro with a one-lap deficit and drove back into contention for the GT championship. The team ultimately finished a mere two points from the title, one which no one would have predicted them a contender for at the start of the season. The team's breakout success in 2011 helped General Motors claim the Manufacturers Championship in GT and lead to the team winning the Rolex Series Moment of the Year for their victory in Virginia.
