Inside Line Promotions – FORNEY, Texas (June 11, 2015) – Travis Rilat has a busy next month as he will compete in three events throughout the United States and Canada.
The action begins this Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the opening round of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek.
“We have a lot of laps around Devil’s Bowl and get around there pretty well so I’m looking forward to Saturday,” he said. “As long as we don’t run into any bad luck I think we’ll be a contender.”
Rilat has earned at least one top 10 during each of the past 10 years at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, including a pair of eighth-place results last season. His last win at the half-mile oval was in 2012.
“We’ve been consistent at Devil’s Bowl, but haven’t been to Victory Lane as often as I’d like,” he said. “That’s the goal this weekend. There’s obviously going to be a lot of talented teams there, but I think we’re up there with the best of them.”
Rilat will take the following weekend off before venturing to Washington, where he will team up with Richard Saumure June 25-27 at Skagit Speedway in Alger during the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
The duo has scored 10 top 10s, including six podium finishes, during 14 races at the track the past two-plus seasons.
Rilat and Saumure will also race together the first weekend of July at the Gold Cup hosted by Castrol Raceway in Alberta, Canada.
“I think we will have a great shot at winning the Dirt Cup and the Gold Cup,” Rilat said. “Both are marquee events that will showcase a lot of talented teams, but I feel confident that we have what is necessary to win every time.”

“It’s kind of funny how I met (Shark owner) Marc Huson when I went up there to Washington for an ASCS National Tour race and Triple X Race Co. was next door,” Rilat said. “I was wandering around talking on my cell phone and saw a sprint car next door. I walked over, looked around and introduced myself.
“He’s been a great friend. He was instrumental with a support group for me and my family when I was in the hospital up there. He and his wife helped us out in a hard time. As far as his engine skills go, he’s one of the best in the country. There’s only a handful of great engine builders across the country and I consider him one of the best.”
