Reutzel Kicks Off All Star Circuit of Champions Title Defense at Park Jefferson

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (May 29, 2020) – Aaron Reutzel and the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 87 Sprint Car team finally kick off the defense of their All Star Circuit of Champions title with this weekend’s pair of events at South Dakota’s Park Jefferson Speedway on Friday and Saturday.

The Folkens Brothers Trucking/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution Triple-X Sprint Car team will be gunning for a third consecutive title after racking up 25 series wins over the past two years.

“It will be nice to finally get back into some All Stars racing,” Reutzel commented. “We have a lot of races coming up over the next several weeks, so it should be interesting.”

While the All Star season has been delayed due to current circumstances, another nine races in 11 nights follows on the heels of this weekend’s opening pair of events.

Reutzel and the Precision Catalyst/Hollywood Blasting & Coating/Beard Equipment crew have stayed busy in recent weeks, posting another top-ten finish in World of Outlaws Sprint Car competition at Pevely, Missouri’s Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway last Friday before a faulty bleeder cut a strong Saturday night run short.

“Our pill draw put us behind both nights, but we had a really good car and good speed,” the drivers of the Nattress Construction/Momentum Racing Suspension machine explains.

“On Friday night, we were just a little bit off most of the night and it was a little hard to pass,” Reutzel said after posting a tenth-place finish.

After securing the 24th starting position for Saturday’s feature, Reutzel was working his way though the field until a red flag proved costly.

“We were up to ninth, then a bleeder in the left rear stuck under the red flag,” Reutzel recalls. “We restarted at the rear and were moving back up again until the bleeder stuck and the tire went down again.”

“We had a good car both nights, we feel good about the direction we’re going right now,” Reutzel says.

Reutzel competed in the recent Open Wheel Nationals at Park Jefferson International Speedway and appeared to be on the way to victory lane only to run short of fuel.

“We had the fastest car all night, hopefully we don’t run out of fuel this time,” Reutzel commented.

This weekend’s All Star Circuit of Champions events will be the first for the series since Florida in February when Reutzel and the BRM No. 87 picked up a pair of wins.

He will be looking for more this weekend in South Dakota.

2020 Quick Stats: 24 races, 4 wins, 11 top-fives, 16 top-tens.
