Reutzel Closes Out Sprint Car Season at World Finals!

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (November 1, 2018) – Aaron Reutzel and the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 87 Sprint Car team will finish off a successful debut season as a team with this weekend’s World of Outlaws Sprint Car series portion of the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in North Carolina.

It is a season that got off to a hot start for Reutzel and Folkens Brothers Trucking/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution Triple-X crew with his first career World of Outlaws win in March. It was a sign of things to come over the ensuing months, with the Precision Catalyst/Hollywood Blasting & Coating/Beard Equipment team racking up eleven overall wins and the All Star Circuit of Champions title.

Reutzel will two get two more chances to add to the win column on Friday and Saturday following Thursday night’s qualifying sessions.

Reutzel and the Nattress Construction/Momentum Racing Suspensions entry take to the World Finals after last weekend’s World of Outlaws action that was hampered by rain. After Friday’s card was completely washed out, Saturday’s scheduled Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway was pushed back to Sunday afternoon.

And, after timing in tenth among his group, Reutzel had his heat race well in hand.

“We didn’t time in all that well, but it was actually good for the format,” Reutzel explained.

Misfortune struck while leading the heat race, bringing an early end to the team’s day.

“We were leading the heat and the fuel shutoff valve just fell apart,” Reutzel says. “I’ve never seen that happen before.”

Mired deep in a “C” Main lineup as a result of the unusual mechanical malfunction, Reutzel and crew opted to call it a day and prepare for the World Finals.

2018 Quick Stats: 73 races, 11 wins, 27 top-fives, 39 top-tens.

Next Up: World of Outlaws Sprint Car series at the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte (qualifying on Thursday precedes two full cards on Friday and Saturday).
