SWANSONS 1ST BROTHERS TO FINISH 1-2 IN SILVER CROWN HISTORY

Tanner and Kody Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. became the first brothers to finish 1-2 in a USAC Silver Crown race in the 40-year history of the series with their 1-2 finish in Thursday night’s “Great Lakes 150” at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich.

Tanner won the 150-lap race with a narrow cushion over Kody, earning his first Silver Crown triumph in only his fourth career start. He also earned his first USAC National Sprint car win in his very first series start at Anderson, Ind. in 2008 and his “Night Before the 500” National Midget victory in May came in his fifth start in that series!

Kody scored his first USAC National win in a Midget race at Kenly, N.C. and he added a National Midget win at O’Reilly Raceway Park in July, matching Tanner’s May win at the same track two months earlier!

Both Swanson brothers have won in USAC’s Western Sprint Car Series this year and last year they dominated the Western Sprint Series with six 1-2 finishes in 13 starts and one of the two was either the winner or runner-up in every race!

Silver Crown history includes race victories by brothers Aaron and A.J. Fike and by half-brothers Pancho Carter and Johnny Parsons.

Tanner’s victory at Berlin Raceway gave the Silver Crown Series four brand-new race winners in its first five races this season! The last time there were no repeat winners in the Silver Crown Series was 1990 when nine drivers won the nine scheduled races.
