[b ELK GROVE, CA] – After meeting all of his set goals last season, second generation open wheel racer Billy Strange is ready to begin chasing new goals for the upcoming 2011 sprint car racing season in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Strange has officially announced his racing schedule for the new season that begins in just a couple of weeks.
"We've put together a pretty diverse schedule for this year," said Strange. "Originally we were looking at running the full 410 racing season but then we considered some of the travel involved and mixed it up a little bit. We'll be racing a little bit of everything this year."
Strange will start his racing season On Saturday night, March 12 at the famed Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico for the annual Mini Gold Cup. This event is sanctioned by the nation's premier body of sprint car racing, the World of Outlaws and will place Strange in the company of the best drivers in the nation as well as the golden state in a high octane night of 410 sprint car racing on the banks of the quarter mile track at the Silver Dollar fairgrounds.
One week after he kicks of his season of 410 cubic inch racing action, Strange will launch his 360 sprint car season off as he heads to Placerville Speedway for the opening round of the California based Civil War Sprint Car Series. The majority of Strange's racing career has been behind the wheel of 360 powered machines until last season when he made his first start at Placerville aboard a powerful 410. This year Strange will race a number of races in both divisions throughout California and the Pacific Northwest.
Following the two season openers, Strange will begin his menagerie of a racing season as he travels to multiple tracks and competes in a variety of venues. At this time, Strange will compete in a total of ten King of the West Sprint Car Series events. Strange is scheduled to appear at the 410 series races in Antioch, Tulare, Watsonville, Marysville, Chico, Medford and Cottage Grove Oregon along with Hanford and Santa Maria.
After finishing in the top ten point standings last year at Placerville Speedway, Strange will make appearances at various shows at the El Dorado County track where both his father and he have had much success. Among the expected events will include a Placerville Speedway Civil War on July 2 along with a special event on July 29 and 30 for the American Sprint Car Series National event in the Foothills. Strange will also compete with USAC Wingless Sprint Car event on August 6 and weekly point racing event on August 13th.
At the tail end of the summer months, Strange plans to join the World of Outlaws tour once again as they make their Gold Rush tour through the Pacific Northwest and into California. This stint will include appearances at Alger Washington, Cottage Grove Oregon and back to Silver Dollar Speedway for the famed Gold Cup Race of Champions.
Strange will begin to wrap up his 2011 schedule by competing in the Civil War Series finale back at Placerville Speedway on September 24th. He will then return to the Giant Chevrolet Speedway in Hanford for a final King of the West event followed by the Trophy Cup in Tulare October 21 and 22.
"We have a really good variety of tracks to race on this year and gain new experiences. Some of these tracks I have never even raced on," said Strange. "It's going to be a learning experience as this team's works together to become competitive in multiple divisions. We are all really looking forward to every event we go to this year."
Currently, Strange is seeking sponsorship for the 2011 racing season. Last year they had a number of marketing partners that supported their efforts in which will return. Among their supporters are Kevin Sharrah Designs, ART Enterprises, Swepco Lubricants, Pronol Race Fuels, High Country Painting and Amerikote.
