Schuerenberg Earns Sprintacular Fourth

ROSSBURG, Ohio – On Saturday night at Eldora Speedway, the rally was on for Hunter Schuerenberg. The Sikeston, Mo. native that now lives in New Whiteland, Ind. put on an incredible show in the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series portion of the aptly-named UNOH Sprintacular race. Though starting buried in the field in 19th, Schuerenberg’s hard charging performance netted him 15 positions to finish fourth. The effort comes two weeks after the United States Auto Club 4-Crown Nationals race in which Schuerenberg finished 13th.
With a massive car count of 56 nonwing sprinters in addition to the 42 All Star winged sprints and 28 NRA 360 sprints, the pit area was packed full at Eldora, forcing the use of the overflow area outside the speedway. Drawing one of the lowest numbers in the bag, Schuerenberg gave a taste of what would come later, moving from the tenth starting spot in heat one to a fourth-place result. Only the top three in each of six heat races moved directly to the main event, so Schuerenberg started on the pole of the first of two B-Mains. The minor setback proved no problem for “Hunter Percent,” as he’d lead all 12 laps and win the race.
From 19th on the grid for the 25-lap feature, it didn’t take long for Schuerenberg to flex his muscle. In just six laps, he had already attained the tenth position without the aid of a caution flag. Navigating Jeff Walker’s No. 11 Jam-It-In Storage entry right around the outside wall, Schuerenberg picked off four three more opponents by lap ten to take over seventh. The rally started to cool off soon after, but a caution for debris on lap 19 helped Schuerenberg gain two more positions before the checkered, narrowly missing the podium and finishing fourth.
Schuerenberg is next scheduled to compete on October 16-17 at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind. with the World of Outlaws in the No. 20N 410ci winged sprint entry and with the USAC National Sprints in the Walker No. 11 410ci wingless sprint entry.
Schuerenberg would like to thank Roof Bolt Express, Nolen Racing, Mach 1 Chassis, Competition Suspension Inc., AFCO Racing, ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems, Hinchman Racewear, Keizer Wheels, High Side Design, and Ron Gorby’s Howard Johnson, as well as all of his fans for their continued support.
