Van Dam Rallies to Record Season-Best Runner-Up Result at Grays Harbor

Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (July 25, 2017) – Henry Van Dam produced his best result of the season last Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway, where he garnered his first podium finish this year.

Van Dam has improved his feature finish during each of the last four races and he has a three-race top-five streak following the runner-up result last Saturday.

“I feel like we’re racing now how we wanted to start the season,” he said. “We’ve had a good car, but just haven’t produced the results. It’s nice to now be turning in top fives consistently.”

The night began with Van Dam qualifying fourth quickest before he won a heat race after starting on the pole. That lined Van Dam up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“I got up to third, but it took me a really long time to get second,” he said. “The racing groove was a bit narrow. As I was finally able to get into second place the leader was getting by a lapped car and we didn’t have enough time at that point to track him down.”

Van Dam will take this weekend off before resuming action on Aug. 4-5 at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Ore., with the Summer Thunder Sprint Series.
