Price Piloting Family Car This Weekend During Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – COBBLE HILL, British Columbia, Canada (June 21, 2018) – Robbie Price will drive his family owned No. 21P this weekend during the three-night Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway.

The 47th annual Dirt Cup, which is the highest-paying sprint car race in the Pacific Northwest, opens on Thursday, continues on Friday and wraps up on Saturday with a $15,000-to-win, $1,000-to-start main event at the high-banked oval in Alger, Wash. The event is a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com race.

“Dirt Cup was my first-ever time in a 360 sprint car so it’s always special to me,” he said. “You never really realize how much you miss home until you are back. It’s good to be back and I am looking forward to having a strong run in the family owned car. Hopefully I can come home $15,000 richer.”

Price, who is the defending track champion at Skagit Speedway, will be making his first start of the season at the 3/10-mile oval during the Dirt Cup opener.

“Skagit is different than anywhere else,” he noted. “I’ve run strong there and have a lot of laps there and I’m really confident. The main goal is to be as consistent as possible and pass cars every time we are on the track. With it being three nights, you have to take each night and each race separately and go as hard as you can. With how the format is, you want to win every time you are on the track and that will set you up for Saturday.”

Price qualified for the preliminary feature during each of the first two nights of last year’s Dirt Cup. In the opener, he finished 12th in the main event before he followed that with a 19th-place run in the A Main the ensuing night. In the finale of last year’s Dirt Cup, Price had some bad luck in a B Main, which ended his night early.

“I’ve always run strong at Skagit and I would like to be in the top five come Saturday night,” he stated. “I think I am capable of doing that. Last year on Saturday was not a good night for us. We had a couple of setbacks. Hopefully we can rebound with my best Dirt Cup ever.”

Thus far in 2018, Price has seven top-10 finishes with two of those coming in ASCS National Tour competition. The native of Cobble Hill, B.C., recently spent the week on the road, soaking everything in during the ASCS Speedweek after competing in the first round of the mini-series.

“I got to watch and learn so I think it helped me quite a bit,” he said. “Watching your competitors is almost as good as racing them. I learned a lot by watching how people race. I have a little mental notebook going and am looking to use some of what I learned this weekend.”
