Inside Line Promotions – CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Aug. 8, 2018) – Joe Trenca’s next opportunity to race is this Sunday at Weedsport Speedway during a Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints show.
The Mucci Motorsports driver is hopeful his recent race with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at the oval in Weedsport, N.Y., will help during this weekend’s 360ci winged sprint car event.
“We’re excited to get back to Weedsport with our 360 program after just racing there in a 410 with the Outlaws,” he said. “I think every time we run the 410 it helps in the 360.”
Trenca faced the Outlaws at Weedsport Speedway on July 29 when he qualified 16th quickest and advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race before capping the night with a 19th-place result in the A Main.
That race was sandwiched between two other races in New York, including a show at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee on July 28. Trenca won a heat race before he recorded a ninth-place result in the main event.
“The track took rubber on Lap 3,” he said. “It was like racing go-karts with people trying to push each other out of the rubber. It was follow the leader around the bottom and you had to hope someone got out of the rubber to make a pass.”
The team’s most recent race was last Saturday at Land of Legends Raceway. Trenca qualified third quickest in his group. A fifth-place heat race result lined him up 18th in the main event.
“I blasted the middle on the start and got a couple of cars,” he said. “That track is like an ice rink. You have to be like Donny Schatz in the slick to go anywhere or someone has to mess up for you to get by once the track gets the way it does in the main event.”
Trenca ended with a 16th-place result.
