Trenca Takes Lessons From World of Outlaws Event at Fulton

Inside Line Promotions – FULTON, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2016) – Joe Trenca’s final start of the season with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series is one that will be logged in the lessons learned book.
“We’re very new to the 410 deal,” he said. “We’ve only ran it five or six times this year. There were a lot of good cars there and a lot more cars than I expected. We tried applying stuff from the 360 racing and we learned the hard way about what not to do.”
The Mucci Motorsports driver qualified 25th quickest overall to open the event last Saturday at Fulton Speedway.
“We drew the No. 1 pill, which any other night I would have loved,” he said. “Racing with the Outlaws and the way the track conditions were it wasn’t a benefit to go out early. The track got faster as more guys went out. That was tough.”
Trenca advanced from seventh to sixth place in a heat race, which came up one spot shy of locking into the main event.
“We had a restart two laps in,” he said. “The final lock-in position was right there, but the track was locked down on the cushion. There wasn’t a lot of passing until the feature time.”
Trenca ended the night by placing sixth in the Last Chance Showdown, which was only two positions short of transferring into the A Main.
“In the Last Chance Showdown we just weren’t good enough,” he said. “It was frustrating, but we did learn some things.”
