Trenca and New Crew Chief Set for Weekend at Can-Am and Merrittville
Inside Line Promotions – CLAY, N.Y. (April 22, 2014) – Joe Trenca is excited to return to the track this weekend with his x-factor.
Trenca noted that new crew chief Darren Schott has helped the Mucci Motorsports program since he arrived and when the team tackles Can-Am Motorsports Park in Lafargeville, N.Y., on Friday and Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario, Canada, on Saturday, it will make a big difference.
“Before we struggled with setups at both tracks,” Trenca said. “We’ve been pretty fast, but haven’t made the right judgments. With his knowledge and his experience at both tracks and all over, I’m really excited about this weekend.”
Trenca has competed in each of the past two seasons at Can-Am Motorsports Park, which will be a Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints race this Friday.
“We’ve had some trouble there in the past,” he said. “It’s a tough race track to figure out. It’s very fast. It gets very slick. It’s a tough track to read.”
Trenca added that setup will also be key during the Patriot Sprint Tour event on Saturday at Merrittville Speedway, where he has enjoyed the atmosphere in recent years.
“We’ve ran there I think three times,” he said. “It’s a very racy track. It’s a very small track. It’s tough to get around. I like the track a lot.”
Trenca said that his goal is to be in contention and with the experience of his new crew chief, this could be the weekend to break into the win column.
