Coming into the 2020 Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series season Steven Drevicki again found himself as the defending champion with the target on his back, and as the bench mark for the entire pit area to measure up too on any given night of competition.
Drevicki immediately kicked back into mid season form at the season opening events at Orange County and Big Diamond as he would sweep opening weekend of the season and establish an early season points lead over the rest of the field.
As the season progressed the consistency, and the victories, were yet again found by Steven Drevicki and his Drevicki Motorsports team. Winning events from the early season, all the way to October. The team would find victory lane five times over the course of the year with wins coming at: Orange County in the series debut, Big Diamond, Williams Grove (Series debut), Winchester (Series Debut), and Georgetown.
Drevicki made all thirteen events on the series schedule, with twelve top five runs, two heat race victories, and one DNF. Drevicki would end up on the podium in ten of the thirteen feature events on the series trail in 2020. The sole DNF for the team came at the Bridgeport Speedway where Drevicki would unfortunately have a right rear tire pack with mud and suffer a mechanical failure, while Drevicki was in third in a three car battle for the lead of the feature event.
2021 Plans for Drevicki will look a bit different than they have over the last three seasons. Drevicki will still be on the road traveling, running wingless sprint cars, and still under the USAC banner, as he will run a limited schedule on the USAC National Sprint Car Series trail. Drevicki has reunited with former midget car owner Greg Fitzpatrick and DeGre Motorsports to tackle marquee events on the national series trail in 2021. Plans still call for Drevicki and the Drevicki Motorsports team to run USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series events in 2021 when not in conflict with their 410 sprint car plans, and dependent upon weather conditions among other factors.
With the bulk of Drevicki’s plans taking him away from the East Coast Series Schedule, the door will be left open for a new driver to emerge and take their place as the 2021 Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series, Presented by Capitol Renegade Series Champion in what is sure to be an extremely competitive season of racing.
