Pair of Top 10 finishes to open Southern Nationals

On Friday evening Tyler Millwood invaded Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) to kick off the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals. Drawing 35 cars, Millwood followed up the sixth fastest time in his group with an 8-lap heat race victory. Starting the opening night feature in fourth, Tyler dropped four spots in the 53-lap affair to register an eighth place finish.

The following night at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.) for another $10,053-to-win A-Main, Tyler edged his way into the main event with a sixth place finish in his heat. Starting the feature in 11th, Millwood jumped up two spots to place ninth. (Brian McLeod photo | Dirt Scenes)
