MYERSTOWN, Pa. (September 10, 2018) – Although Brent Marks’ recent stretch of World of Outlaws competition has been frustrating, highlighting his last three starts with a 12th place finish at Willamette Speedway on Wednesday, September 5, the ‘Myerstown Missile’ did show some some promise, ultimately ending the weekend with his own version of alphabet soup at Silver Dollar Speedway.
After his visit to Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., on Wednesday, Marks, driver of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/Buckwalter Trucking/No. 19, joined the Greatest Show On Dirt during Gold Cup Race of Champions competition at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday and Saturday, September 7 & 8. Despite finishing 25th on Friday after utilizing a World of Outlaws provisional, Brent Marks rebounded in a big way on Saturday and showed his fans the true definition of perseverance.
Failing to transfer through his respective heat race, Marks was forced to battle through the evening’s C-main and eventually finished second. Marks then rallied from 12th to finish third during the evening’s Last Chance Showdown, capping off his Gold Cup Race of Champions effort by finishing 17th during the weekend finale.
“It was just one of those weeks for us. We learn from these and move forward. That’s all you can do,” Brent Marks said, who is nearing the end of his second, full season with the World of Outlaws. “Times like these can be frustrating, but luckily for me I have a lot of great people who stand behind this team and support everything we do. All we can do now is move forward and keep working hard.”
Up next on the schedule, Brent Marks will follow the World of Outlaws to Placerville Speedway for a visit on Wednesday, September 12, followed by a doubleheader at Calistoga Speedway on Friday and Saturday, September 14 & 15. The 49er Gold Rush Classic at Placerville will award a $20,000 top prize.
