Possible Three Race Weekend Ahead in PA for ‘BMR’
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
Myerstown, PA (June 1st, 2015) – Despite his recent road trip to Attica, Ohio falling just short of expectation, Brent Marks still managed to benefit from his inaugural trip and looks forward to returning in the future. ‘The Myerstown Missile’ crossed the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at the Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio on Friday night, May 29th; joining
‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ and Ohio’s finest for the annual Kistler Engines Classic worth $10,000. No prior experience at the Attica bullring would prove to be negative factor, as Marks ended his night with a ninth place finish during the evening’s ‘Last Chance Showdown.’ There were 41 World of Outlaws sprint cars entered for competition.
“It all comes down to qualifying” said Brent Marks, “We put ourselves in a hole during qualifying…starting in the back of the heat race and not getting through put us in the C-main…we won the ‘C’ and passed some cars in the ‘B’ but still came up a little short…regardless, we learned a lot on Friday…an opportunity to race at a new track with competition like that will only help us improve…the local guys in Ohio are really competitive and mixing that with the ‘Outlaw’ travelers makes for a tough night…we want to be competitive all over the map…getting laps at as many different tracks as possible will help us achieve that…it was a fun trip and we enjoyed ourselves…we’ll get back to Attica eventually and use our notes and work for a better result.”
Marks qualified 33rd out of the 41 cars entered for action at Attica Raceway Park. The Brent Marks Racing, BAPS Auto Paint & Supplies, Creekside Auto Sales, Fredericksburg Eagle Hotel, Diamond Toyota, Russell Heller Builders, ‘19M’ team finished sixth during heat race competition; one position short of a transfer spot. Marks would rebound slightly with a C-main victory after starting on the pole, resulting in a row seven starting position for the evening’s ‘Last Chance Showdown.’ Marks would improve for a ninth place finish, with only the top-four finishers qualifying for the 40-lap main event.
“Tough way to end a long trip like that but we’ll keep plugging away” explained Brent Marks, “We logged a lot of laps at Attica so we were able to learn a ton…we want to go back…hopefully soon.”
With rain ruining all plans to join the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at the I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan on Saturday, May 30th, which ended up being postponed until mid-June, Brent Marks Racing returned home and competed Saturday night at the Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania. Marks finished third during feature action at ‘The Speed Palace’ after starting on the inside of row six; his fourth podium finish at Port Royal Speedway since April 11th.
“Our plan was to race with the World of Outlaws at I-96 Speedway on Saturday but they canceled pretty early” said Marks, “We decided our best option was to head home and try to race at Port Royal…we got lucky with the weather and ended up running third…we started 11th so we got going pretty good…I thought we were better than third…just a little short.”
The upcoming weekend will be action packed once again for Brent Marks with three events on the potential schedule. The Myerstown, Pennsylvania native will ignite the month of June with action at the Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania on Friday night, June 5th, followed by a trip to the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania on Saturday, June 6th. The ‘Dirt Classic’ Qualifier will headline the program in the Pigeon Hills on Saturday night; awarding $7,000 to the main event winner along with an automatic starting spot in the $20,000-to-win ‘Dirt Classic’ finale on September 26th back at the Lincoln Speedway.
The only portion of the upcoming weekend schedule left questionable is the plan to venture west towards the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway on Sunday night, June 7th. The All Star Circuit of Champions will invade the Bedford, Pennsylvania oval on Sunday night with $5,000 up for grabs during the ‘Roy Morral Tribute.’
“We aren’t too sure about Sunday” said Brent Marks, “We’ll be at Williams Grove Speedway and Lincoln Speedway for sure…we are pretty excited about the ‘Dirt Classic’ qualifier on Saturday…gives us an opportunity to lock ourselves into the $20,000-to-win show later this year…Sunday will depend on how the rest of the weekend goes…I just want to thank my team and all of our sponsors for their hard work and dedication…takes a lot of work to make a team operate…we are still hunting for that first win so we’ll see what we can do this weekend.”
