Dave Argabright to Interview Jimmy Owens on Friday of Knoxville Late Model Nationals at the National Sprint Car Museum

Fans that attended the National Sprint Car Museum’s special forums the last two years during the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals featuring Scott Bloomquist and Billy Moyer, respectively, won’t want to miss this year’s “An Afternoon with Jimmy Owens,” again emceed by award-winning veteran journalist Dave Argabright. The forum will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 26, on the second floor of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum.

Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tennessee, is also known as “the Newport Nightmare” or “The O Show.” He is the three-time and defending Lucas Oil Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion (2011, ’12, ’13) and he has won the following prestigious dirt late model races at least once each during his accomplished career: World 100, North/South 100, Blue/Gray 100, Hillbilly 100, Dream 100, Topless 100, Show Me 100, Dirt Track World Championship, National 100, Jackson 100, Silver Dollar Nationals and Cotton Pickin’ 100. He has not yet won the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals and he will be looking to change that statistic this year on Saturday, September 27.

According to museum executive director Bob Baker, “We can’t thank Jimmy Owens enough for agreeing to be our special guest this year. He is a great racer and just a great person. Recent National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Dave Argabright will do a fantastic job of drawing career information out of Jimmy, including stuff about his first street stock win in 1991 at Kingsport and his four United Midwestern Promoters modified titles starting in 1998. This is going to be both educational and entertaining. Dirt track fans won’t want to miss this forum, which is free with a paid museum admission, on Friday at 11:30 a.m.”
