Bogucki Enjoys Action-Packed Two Weeks in Iowa

Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 14, 2019) – Scott Bogucki and his SawBlade.com sponsored team overcame a lot of obstacles to close two weeks of racing in Southern Iowa with a smile.

Though it ended last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway with an eighth-place finish in the B Main of the 59th annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores, Bogucki was very upbeat about the experience.

“Our little team gave their heart and soul the past 10 days,” he said. “When you are competing against the best sprint car drivers in the world – over 100 of them – to make the B Main for Saturday night is incredible.”

Bogucki’s racing began Aug. 2 during the 29th annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank. The SawBlade.com backed team qualified third quickest overall before finishing fifth in a heat race to narrowly miss locking into the A Main. Bogucki had to tackle the B Main, which he won to transfer into the main event.

“I was sloppy in my heat and I attribute that to a lack of laps at Knoxville,” he said. “We haven’t raced here since last year’s Nationals. We won the B Main and started toward the tail of the A Main and our new motor blew a plug out of the block.”

The DNF relegated him into the B Main during the Saturday finale, where a top-four finish transferred him into the A Main.

“We had a rear-end seal go bad and leak grease all in the floor so I pulled in,” he said regarding his 23rd-place result.

The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour visited Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on Aug. 6. Bogucki, who sits third in the ASCS National championship standings, rolled off 12th in the feature after placing third in a heat race.

“The track was really racy at the beginning and I was able to pass cars before it took rubber,” he said. “We had a red and I adjusted a shock and I screwed up or we had a shot at the top three, but ended up fifth.”

The SawBlade.com sponsored team put a 410ci engine in for the famed Knoxville Nationals last week. Bogucki qualified on Thursday, turning the eighth quickest time in qualifying.

“We had a great qualifying effort which gave us a lot of points, but put us toward the tail of the heat and against that caliber of talent it’s tough,” he said. “We were able to pass a couple of cars and finish fifth, but that put us in the B Main. The car was good and we transferred to the A Main and drove from 23rd to 17th, which locked us into Saturday’s B Main. If I could have gotten two more cars in the heat we might have made Saturday’s A Main.

“Knoxville is a beast of a place and takes a lot of laps to get comfortable there. I’m happy with how we ran. We improved every time we hit the track and I can’t ask for much better than that. It was a big improvement from last year’s Nationals.”

Bogucki said the team will take this weekend off and prepare for the next ASCS race, which is Aug. 24 at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.

“We are going to recoup and reload and get ready for the stretch run with the ASCS,” he said. “We are third in points and hoping to move into second soon.”
