SawBlade.com Backed Bogucki Ready for Sophomore Season on ASCS National Tour
Inside Line Promotions – HOUSTON, Texas (Feb. 18, 2019) – Like most racers, Australian Scott Bogucki is excited to begin the 2019 season. The main reason is that he will be visiting a lot of tracks aboard his SawBlade.com sponsored 360ci sprint car with valuable experience following last year’s rookie campaign on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“We aren’t starting from scratch,” he said. “We have notes and information from last year and we know what we need to do.”
Bogucki earned the ASCS National Tour Rookie of the Year Award in 2018 when he finished eighth in the national standings. He also scored his first series win at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.
“The main thing I learned is we have to lock into the feature every night and not have to use provisionals,” he said. “You don’t get points with provisionals. If we had raced into all the features last year we would have finished at least sixth in points. This year we need to consistently make features.”
Out of the 44 races he competed in during 2018, Bogucki had seven top-five finishes and 19 top-10 runs.
Bogucki said over the winter the team “stepped up” their engine program and when the opportunity arises when the ASCS National Tour is not running, he hopes to compete in more 410ci sprint car events.
Bogucki will begin the year competing with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars this Friday at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, and Saturday at LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, during the East Texas LoneStar Shootout.
“We put a new car together after the Knoxville Nationals last year and we will start the year with that car,” he said. “We have two other new Maxim cars ready and we have a new Ostrich engine coming to go with the others that have been freshened to begin the ASCS National Tour in March.
“We are starting out the year a lot further along than we were last year. It’s been a lot of hard work and stress to get here, but it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.”
Bogucki noted that he competed in a couple of races in Australia last month, but is starting out in Texas with the World of Outlaws for more seat time prior to the ASCS National Tour opener next month.
“A couple of races in the past four or five months aren’t enough,” he said. “I need a lot more seat time to keep learning and growing. I’ve never competed at Cotton Bowl or LoneStar so hopefully we learn some things and make the shows.”
Bogucki said long-time friend and helper Jack Mccarthy will make the trip from Australia to help work on the team.
“He’s worked with me ever since I started racing sprint cars,” he added. “He will be a huge help.”
