Honeycutt wins in BLR Pro Truck, team competes in 2 classes at Five Flags
On Thursday, Kaden Honeycutt kicked off an epic run during the 57th annual Snowball Derby week at Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway with a win in the Pro Truck race driving for Bryson Lopez Racing (BLR). He went on to claim the Snowball Derby victory with Jett Motorsports on Sunday, and in the lead-up to the finale, BLR fielded multiple vehicles in preliminary Pro Truck and Pro Late Model competition.
In Thursday’s Pro Truck action, BLR entered Honeycutt’s No. 47 Chevrolet and the No. 18 Chevrolet driven by Zach Lopez in the 26-truck truck field. Honeycutt started third in the 50-lap race on the half-mile oval and took the checkered flag as runner-up. However, when winner Steven Davis was disqualified, Honeycutt inherited his first victory of the week. Jared Maupin, Grant Thompson, Seth Christensen and Maddox Langham completed the top five.
Zach Lopez started 11th and was involved in two accidents, ending his night in 19th.
Additionally, BLR affiliate driver Carter Whalen raced to a 13th-place finish.
On Saturday, BLR competed again, this time in the prestigious Snowflake 100 Pro Late Model race drawing 51 entrants. Honeycutt qualified a solid fourth in the team's No. 47 Chevrolet SS and ran inside the top five early. However, he was involved in a chain-reaction crash with just under 40 laps to go and suffered heavy right-rear damage. Despite the setback, he finished 12th.
Meanwhile, Brandon Lopez qualified 37th in the BLR No. 6 Chevrolet SS, forcing him into the Last Chance Qualifier. He raced into the main event by grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot in the LCQ. He started 34th in the 100-lapper, kept his nose clean and advanced an impressive 18 spots to finish in the 16th position.
Honeycutt also finished 26th in Friday’s Modifieds of Mayhem race with Sotex Motorsports before scoring the $50,000 Snowball Derby prize in a Jett Motorsports Chevrolet Super Late Model on Sunday.
