Mogar 2023 Duel in the Desert
Last week Joey stepped back in the B Mod for his 5th, 6th, and 7th races since climbing back in the driver seat. Starting off Thursday drawing a 97 out of 100 he would start 9th in his heat and finish 7th. Roll out for the B Main in 4th and finish 2nd. In the A Main for the B Mods, the track was a little rough and Joey would roll out 26th on the field, driving through the dust he would finish 14th.
Friday Joey would pull a 37 pill draw, start his heat 3rd but finishing 5th. For the B main, with a better track from the night before Joey would start 14th, after a rough start and falling back quite a bit, he would drive back up to finish 13th, in an eventful Friday night A main the would call the race short for time.
Saturday lineups would be set, Joey would have to transfer from the B main. Starting 4th would just need to hold the line and keep it clean. New dirt driver blues would catch up to Joey and taking an extra lap or two to get in the grove would bring the car home in 7th missing the transfer spot by one.
Was a great weekend and a lot of learning for the once asphalt-modified driver. He will move on to the hopeful next race in Casa Grande on November 17th, 18th, & 19th, chasing sponsorships to continue racing. Huge thanks to Crew Sonny, Nick, and Ron, and also to car owner Tony for the opportunity to rent the car and start racing again.
