Trey Marcham Scores Double Golden Drillers at the 2015 Tulsa Shootout

TULSA, OK (January 3, 2015) The final checkered flag of the 2015 Tulsa Shootout has been waved and Oklahoma’s Trey Marcham owns the spotlight as the nation’s newest golden driver. Proving himself early in the week as a dominant force on the racetrack, Marcham closed out his Shootout experience by winning two coveted Golden Driller titles.

Marcham started on the front row of both the Stock Non-Wing and Outlaw Non-Wing features. He and his brother, Josh Marcham, made Tulsa Shootout history in the Stock Non-Wing class by being the first sibling duo to ever start side by side on the front row of a main feature show. The Marcham brothers have always been very supportive of one another on and off the track.

“When I found out we were both starting on the pole, it was kind of a breath of fresh air,” said Trey, “and even though it did add some pressure, if anyone else was going to win, I would’ve rather it been him, and I knew we both were capable.”

Trey went on to win the title, while Josh finished fifth respectively.

Marcham began his second feature event next to Dominic Scelzi of California. It was a tough race amongst a highly competitive field, but Marcham led from start to finish.

“Scelzi tried to throw a few slide jobs on me and I knew what he was planning to do because I’d seen his nose once or twice,” said Marcham, “so I just dove underneath him and held the lead.”

Marcham is the first driver in the history of the Tulsa Shootout to sweep both non-wing divisions.

Trey Marcham, a senior Engineering student at the University of Oklahoma with over 12 years of experience in Micro Sprints, Ford Focus Midgets, 360 Non-Wing Sprint Cars and asphalt Late Models, claimed the 2013 USAC-Western States Midget Rookie-of-the-Year honor and three USAC-Western States Midget wins in 2014. Marcham has amassed six Championships at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Newcastle, Oklahoma, as well as having claimed both the A-Class and Non-wing A-Mains at the Inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial/Race4Life in Tulsa in 2012.

Josh Marcham, a freshman at the University of Oklahoma claimed one Championship at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Newcastle, Oklahoma and recently won the $1,000-to-win Quick Engineering preliminary night feature at the Southern Illinois Raceway (SIR) 7th Annual IKE Honda Terry Sprague Memorial.
