Sunshine Set for Four Crown Nationals after another Pair of USAC Sprint Car Top Tens

Lonnie Wheatley, INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 20, 2018) – After posting another pair of USAC Sprint Car top-ten finishes, triple-duty is in store for Tyler Courtney with this weekend’s “Four Crown Nationals” at Rossburg, Ohio’s Eldora Speedway.

This weekend’s Four Crown gets an early start with USAS Silver Crown qualifying aboard the Hans Lein No. 97 on Friday night.

The pace picks up on Saturday night with the balance of the USAC Silver Crown card along with a full slate of USAC Sprint Car action aboard the Clauson-Marshall-Newman Racing Priority Aviation No. 7bc entry and a USAC Midget tilt in the Clauson-Marshall Racing Driven2SaveLives/Indiana Donor Network No. 7bc machine.

It’s a challenging night that “Sunshine” looks forward to after capturing his first Silver Crown win during last year’s Four Crown.

“The biggest challenge is to mentally prepare how to drive each car,” Courtney explains. “Each one has different stuff that you do to it.”

Courtney goes into the Four Crown after posting another pair of top-ten finishes in USAC Sprint Car action including a seventh-place on Friday night at the Terre Haute Action Track and then a sixth-place fun at Haubstadt’s Tri-State Speedway on Saturday.

Courtney went into Friday’s “Jim Hurtubise Classic” at Terre Haute gunning for a third consecutive series win atop the storied half-mile. And, after timing in fourth-quick, Courtney appeared to be in position to go for a three-peat by gridding the feature in third.

However, a mechanical issue forced Courtney to the tail. Courtney salvaged the evening by rallying back through the field to capture a seventh-place finish.

After timing in third-quickest at Tri-State Speedway on Saturday, a quirky format put Courtney 16th in the feature starting grid after transferring from heat race action. Courtney made the best of it, racing through the field to earn a sixth-place finish.

“We made the best of the situations each night,” Courtney says. “And to get away from Haubstadt with a sixth-place finish is something we’ll take, it’s not one of our best tracks.”

Already with 11 wins to his credit this season, “Sunshine” has three opportunities to boost that total on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway.
