Unstoppable Force: Danny Sams III Sweeps Weekend

Unstoppable Force: Danny Sams III Sweeps Weekend

This weekend, the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints competed in a double header phenomenon in northern Wisconsin.

The weekend started at the Gondik Law Speedway with 25 cars checked in. Scotty Thiel would be fastest in Qualifying. Heat races would be won by Blake Nimee, Andy Pake, and Christopher Thram. Dashes were won by Christopher Thram and Jake Blackhurst.

We would be green for 25 laps around Gondik Law. Blackhurst would jump to the early lead but we would soon go red for the 65 of Goldesberry. He would walk away from the scene. With no laps complete, we would reset and restart the feature.

Blackhurst would also be overtaken by Thram into turns three and four. We would then bring out one more red, restarting the field.

Thram would gain the lead with Danny Sams III second. 20 laps remained and on the restart, Sams III would take the lead. Sams II would lead the way from that restart to 5 laps remaining when we would draw out the red for the Big Wheel who was battling for a podium position.

5 laps remained, Sams III made it look easy and piloted the 24D to the checkered. Joel Myers Jr second, and Blake Nimee would round out the podium.

The weekend action continued as the series swung up to the Cedar Lake Speedway for the 24th Annual Jerry Richert Memorial. This was the highest paying race in this race’s history, and 32 cars checked in to the Cedar Lake Speedway.

Kelby Watt was fastest in hot laps, Jake Blackhurst was quicktime, heat races were won by Andy Pake, Brooke Tatnell, Justin Henderson, and Kaleb Johnson. Dashes were won by Danny Sams III and Christopher Thram.

We’d go green for the final time at the Cedar Lake Speedway in 2024 for 30 laps. Danny Sams III would continue leading laps with the series and jump to the early lead. We’d draw out the caution for Pake with 27 to go. Madsen would be the next to challenge Sams III on the restart, and would reel in the 24D as the laps counted down. Madsen would get bit by the turn 4 wall and draw out caution with 21 laps to go. This would bring up Thram, Johnson, Rankin, and Henderson.

The 24D would continue to dominate at the Cedar Lake Speedway, leaving the rest of the field in the dust. We would draw out a caution for second place runner Christopher Thram who was running second.

Danny Sams III would lead the field to the checkered and win the 24th annual Jerry Richert Memorial. Kerry Madsen would race back to second, and Joel Myers Jr would round out the podium.

The IRA Sprint Car Series will be back in action Saturday September 14th at the 141 Speedway.
