Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (Sept. 6, 2020) – Kyle Larson added another big win to his impressive 2020 racing résumé on Sunday evening at Huset’s Speedway, where he led the final 11 laps to capture the $20,000-to-win World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series victory.

It marked Larson’s ninth win of the season with the series – the most of any driver – and his first at the high-banked oval. Jack Dover was also victorious, capturing the Midwest Sprint Touring Series A Main for the second straight night.

“It’s definitely cool to get a win here,” Larson said. “I’m happy to get another Outlaw win.”

Giovanni Scelzi led the first 24 laps as Larson began to build steam in the final half of the 35-lap race. He advanced to third place just before a caution bunched up the field and allowed him to maneuver into the runner-up position during a restart on Lap 21. The ensuing restart on Lap 25 also worked in his favor as Larson rocketed into the lead from the bottom groove as Scelzi selected the outside lane for the double-file restart. It turned out to be the race-winning pass.

“The restarts weren’t working out for me early,” Larson said. “Gio shocked me taking the top. I think he made the right move choosing the top. I think he spun his tires. I was able to get a good run in the moisture.”

James McFadden was also strong on the late restarts. McFadden was running sixth on the restart when Larson took the lead. McFadden marched forward and he made the most of the final restart with three laps remaining, powering from fourth to second place.

“Early we struggled,” he said. “I just couldn’t get a good rhythm. I finally learned how to run the bottom.

“The track was fun. I think you just needed to capitalize when other people made a mistake.”

David Gravel rounded out the podium with a third-place showing.

“We want to win these races and Kyle is making us step up our game,” he said. “I think we had a good enough car to win. As the green flag (runs) went on we were just as good as anybody.”

Scelzi finished fourth and World of Outlaws points leader Brad Sweet advanced from 12th to fifth place.

Justin Henderson and Larson each set quick time in their group. Carson Macedo, Kerry Madsen, Larson and Scelzi were the heat race winners. Scelzi also claimed the dash victory. Logan Schuchart, who ranks second in the championship standings, won the Last Chance Showdown.

The Midwest Sprint Touring Series main event also showcased some exciting moments. Chris Graf led the first five laps before flipping in turn one to end his night early. Dover inherited the lead and outlasted the competition during two restarts in the final seven laps to score his second straight triumph.

“We got a new car here three weeks ago after a bad crash,” he said. “It’s a car I ran last year. I’m just trying to get in my comfort zone.

“When you have guys like Carson McCarl and Lee Grosz behind you you kinda get nervous. I’m really glad we were able to pull off two wins on the weekend.”

McCarl rallied from eighth to second place with Grosz holding off Hard Charger Award winner Clint Garner, who started 15th, for the final spot on the podium. Kaleb Johnson earned a fifth-place result.

Grosz, Graf and Eric Lutz each won a heat race.

The final event of the season for the revived Huset’s Speedway is Sept. 18-19 when the track hosts the DeKalb/Asgrow Power Series Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores featuring the Midwest Sprint Touring Series and the Midwest Power Series as well as RaceSaver Sprints.
