Zearfoss runs out of luck at Eldora

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

JONESTOWN, Pa. (September 24, 2018) – Brock Zearfoss’ 4-Crown Nationals campaign was nearly flawless, but a flat, left-rear tire changed his fate.

Zearfoss, pilot of the Destiny Motorsports, No. 4 sprint car, joined the All Star Circuit of Champions for the 37th running of the 4-Crown Nationals on Saturday evening, kicking-off the program at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track with an impressive heat race victory, followed by a dash victory. The pair of preliminary wins set up Zearfoss’ pole position for the 27-lap main event.

While battling inside the top-five for a first-ever All Star Circuit of Champions victory, disaster struck the ‘Jonestown Jet’ in the form of tire trouble. Despite the issue not being an overwhelming concern, time restraints kept Zearfoss from making the necessary changes and rejoining the field (once the feature lap count is beyond halfway, there is not guaranteed time to make repairs).

Despite the weekend ending on a sour note, Friday’s visit to Eldora Speedway for the BeFour The Crowns Showdown featuring the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series resulted in minor success for the Destiny Motorsports team, bettering many within the 41-car field to finish 14th during feature competition.

“Not getting that two minutes in the work area hurt us. I’m not saying we were going to be a winning threat the rest of that race, but we still had some time to pass a few cars and gain a few points before the end,” Zearfoss said, a two-time winner in 2018 before joining Destiny Motorsports. “There is nothing we can do about it now. We’ll put this behind us and move forward. I’m excited to get back to Central Pennsylvania and race in front of my family and friends.”

The Williams Grove Speedway National Open is next for Brock Zearfoss and Destiny Motorsports. The two-day World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series program will award a total winner’s share equaling $66,000 in 2018, $56,000 of which to be handed out on Saturday night during the National Open finale. Brock Zearfoss owns one World of Outlaws victory in his career. Incidentally, that occurred at The Grove.
