Billy Moyer Jr. tames the Bullring for second win of 2017

By Ben Shelton (Batesville, AR) -- For the first time in a few years, Billy Moyer Jr. returned to action at Columbus Speedway on Friday, and he made the most of the opportunity by powering his Crop Production Services #21jr Billy Moyer Race Car/ Pro Power Racing Engines Super Late Model to a $2,000 victory at the track known as the “Baddest Bullring in the South.”

“We grabbed the lead there at the drop of the green flag and were pretty good, but then I thought I had given it away in lapped traffic because I slipped back to second,” Moyer Jr. noted. “However, I was able to get back to the lead and then drive away from the field. This Billy Moyer Race Car was on spot the whole night, and I just want to thank my team, my sponsors, and everyone that makes my program possible.”

Billy started his night by setting fast time in the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) event at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). After finishing second in the dash, that’s where he started for the feature. He paced the field early before surrendering the lead in lapped traffic. A few laps later though he would jump back to the front of the field.

Moyer Jr. went on to drive away from the field during the remainder of the 40 lapper to claim the $2,000 win, which marked his second triumph of the season. Jamie Tollison, Michael Arnold, Chad Thrash, and Dean Carpenter completed the Top-5 finishers.

Saturday’s MSCCS event at ECM Speedway (Arkadelphia, Alabama) fell victim to rain so the team returned home.

Full results from the event are available at www.StateSeries.com .
This Friday and Saturday, Billy will enter a pair of World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series events in Kansas and Oklahoma. Action opens on Friday evening at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) before moving to Salina Highbanks Speedway (Salina, Oklahoma) on Saturday night. Both events pay $10,000-to-win.
