Hodges Motorsports update -
The night is wrapped up atop the thundering 3/8 mile USA Raceway here in Tucson, AZ. I kicked off the night with the 5 pill which was good enough to put me on the pole of the second heat. After rain putting the track under water, the surface was suprisingly starting to slick up a little bit but stayed extremely fast. I was able to get out to the early lead and got the heat race win. The car was really good, and we only wanted to make minor adjustments. Now the track was starting to go away a little, so we made some changes and began the feature from the 6th position. Early on I got bottleknecked and slipped to 6th. There would be one early caution, but the last 22 laps went green. I struggled a little at first, but I started working it a little and found myself charging hard at the end, just to come up short and finish 5th. The last 5 laps were possibly my best laps here at Tucson, and the car felt great. Even though our finsih doesn't reflect it, we have a lot to build off of and we found our baseline again.
