It was a bit of a disappointing night with the ASCS Southwest series down in Tucson, AZ. An extra $1000 was on the line and we were quite far off from getting it. We began the night pulling the 3 pill which set us up for the pole of the first heat race. The track still was a bit greasy with all the rain that they have had. I got out to the early lead, and the car was working well, so pulled away until we took the checkered getting ready to lap the tail end of the field. We were then in the top 8 redraw which set us up starting inside of row 2. Now the track had a slimy bottom, slick top groove, and small cushion up on the fence. I got hung up on the start and fell all the way to 5th whiled trying to get to the top groove. After that nobody moved around much until we got to lap traffic. We had our first yellow on lap 14, and we started back up the same way. A few times I tried the bottom, but could not finish the corner. We had another late race caution and my motor didn't seem to take off the same. It also didn't run as hard, and we just held on to finish 5th. It was a little disappointing because we ran so good in the heat, but we'll just have to take this experience and move on. We will take this next weekend off to regroup, and it looks like our next race may be back in Tucson Labor Day weekend without the wing.
