Hodges Motorsports Update - USA Speedway
It was a tough result tonight but we found some speed here at the USA Speedway in Sterlington, Louisiana. I kicked off the night pulling pill 16 which set me up to start 3rd in the 3rd heat. The track was sandy and slick through the middle, but had some grip on the bottom that you could get a hold of. I fell in line in 3rd position on the start and got by 2nd a few laps in. The car was working really good and towards the end of the race, I reeled in the leader but ran out of time to get by, and settled for a 2nd place heat race run. That put us in the re-draw where I drew 8, the worst pill available, to start 8th. It appeared the track did not change much and we just made some minor adjustments to get even better. In the first corner, I got a could run into turn 1 but it turned out to be too much, and I could not slow up enough until I looped it and did a small 180. No damage was done, but I was sent to the back and had to start from dead last. From there, I was able to get a few cars and the car was working pretty good but I eventually got frustrated and started overdriving the car, which made it worse. We look forward to tomorrow after finding some speed today, going to another short track at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byrom, Mississippi.
