Hodges Motorsports Update - Devil's Bowl Speedway
One night is over here in Mesquite, TX at the Devil's Bowl Speedway. It was an eventful night, and it all started pulling pill 50, which put me starting 7th in the 3rd heat race. The track was now getting slick through the middle, especially in turns 1 and 2. On the start, I fell back to 8th but worked myself up a spot a few laps in. I was adapting to the track, and the car was not quite where it needed to be and we settled for 7th. That wasn't enough to make the feature and I had to run the B main starting from the outside of the front row. The track was very similar to the heat, just slicking up a little more. I got in line in 2nd on the start and ran there most of the race. I would creep up on the leader a little every lap and finally with 2 to go, I made my move on the top of 3 and 4 and got by. On the other end I got passed back but I ran the same groove through 3 and 4 again and beat him to the stripe to win the B and move on to the A feature. Starting from 18th, a few cars got by me on the start and I fell back to 20th trying to move forward. I started working by a few on the bottom of 1 and 2 and the top of 3 and 4. About 5 laps in, the track started taking rubber and it became really fast and hard to pass. After some wrecks in front of me, and being able to plug some holes when cars slid up, I worked myself up to the 9th spot at one point but with 5 to go, I had used up all my tires and I just started hanging on. During this time, I slipped up 2 or 3 times and fell back to 13th, where I would finish. It was a long, tough night but we have tonight to work on it and get better. I would like to thank John and Wayne for there huge help and support last night. See live updates again on Facebook and Twitter!
