Hodges Motorsports Update - Lawton Speedway
I would like to apologize for not having the update earlier today. Our computer crashed, and we had some other business to tend to when we got home today.
Our night started off by pulling pill 17, which set us up to start 5th in the 2nd heat race. The track was watered a lot, and it was heavy and fast at the start of the night. On the start, I was able to clear the outside car for sole possession of 5th going into turn 1, but when I got under 4th, he got crossed up and I had to get in the brakes and got caught in a rut which made the car bike up onto 2 wheels, but I was able to get it back down although we fell to last. After that, I was able to make up some of the ground I lost and get by a couple of cars, but that was not enough to make the A-Feature. The track started slicking up a little, so we made some changes and went out for our B. We started 5th, and 4 transferred. I got one car in the opening laps, and another a lap or so later to finish 3rd and transfer. Now the track was really slick, with little to grab a hold of. I started 19th, and through the opening laps, I got a few cars, but wasn't as good as I had hoped. There was a caution about 10 laps to help me regroup myself, but it still seemed like I lacked some grip. Towards the end, I started getting better, but was only up to 13th. That is where I would finish, but after a car was disqualified, we officially finished 12th. Our run was a little disappointing, but we kept the car in one piece, which is always good news at a short track like Lawton. We are still undecided at what we are going to do this weekend, but we'll keep our website updated.
