Hodges Motorsports Update - Aztec Speedway
Mother Nature held off with an exception of a few snowflakes and we were able to get the Napa Auto Parts, Benic Enterprises, The Oil Medics, Keizer Wheels, Ortega's Appliance No. 74x into victory lane here at Aztec Speedway. I started off the night pulling pill number 134 which set me starting 5th in the second heat. Although there was a lot of moisture in the air, and it being so cold, the track still got slick from bottom to top for the heat. After working the bottom a little bit, I was able to squeeze by on about lap 3 or 4 to the lead where I got to the top and won the heat. After that, we drew pills for starting spot, and I pulled 4 to start 4th. The track got even slicker, and formed a few ruts through the center of turns 1 and 2. On the start, I was able to get to 2nd in the first couple corners, and was side by side for the lead passing the line on the first lap. I went to the top on both ends after securing the lead, trying to keep my momentum up until a caution on lap 12. I got the front row to myself on the Delaware (side by side) restart and went to the top once again but was challenged on the bottom. I got the run on the top but got to the bottom in 1 and 2 and was able to extend the lead once again until another caution with about 8 laps to go. This time I got a better start and was able to stretch the lead until we came across the checkers for the win. The car was pretty good, but we always feel we can improve on it. I would like to thank Bob, Josh, and Bradley for coming out and helping on the car, and also the fans who came out. Next up on our schedule looks to be the next stop on the ASCS Southwest series in Tucson, AZ at USA Raceway on April 23rd.
