ASCS Champion Contenders Gear Up For The KRONIK En

Tucson, Arizona (October 28th, 2009) - While Shane Stewart and Jason Johnson have battled across the country for the ASCS Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series Championship, two other championships have be brewing all year long at tracks in Arizona and New Mexico. The three ASCS crowns will be determined on the final night of the 2009 American Sprint Car Series racing season as competitors from across the United States congregate to USA Raceway for the 42nd Annual KRONIK Energy Western World Championships presented by Old Tucson Studios.

"Chargin" Charles Davis leads the ASCS Discount Tire Canyon Region into the Western World battle with the Jim Massey team on the verge of its first ASCS Championship. Sporting a brand new Roush/Yates Ford power plant puts Davis in position to win a second power plant for his teammate, Jesse "The Rocket" Hockett.

Hockett, winner of the 2008 ASCS Western World, entered the 2009 race looking to defend his title and pick up $5k along the way. Hockett is expected to pull double duty as he also sits in the top 10 in ASCS Lucas Oil National standings looking to take home a total of $20k for both victories.

RJ Johnson, who recently made his first attempt at ASCS Wing racing, sits in the second spot trailing Davis by 40 points in Discount Tire Canyon Region points. RJ picked up his first 2009 Discount Tire victory October 10th while the Arizona Motorsports Hall of Fame inducted 5 new members.

Rick Ziehl leads the ASCS Southwest Region into the prestigious November championship race as he just took the point lead from Ben Gregg last weekend. While only 56 points separate the top 5 in the region, Ziehl has a narrow margin with just 12 points over Gregg.

Ziehl proved to be the most versatile in Canyon Region and Southwest Region action by picking up the ASCS Discount Tire Wing vs. Non Wing Challenge. The Challenge made up of an 8 race schedule split between Canyon Region and Southwest Region races was attempted by 5 drivers who all faired well. Rookie Shoe, Joshua Hodges, earned his "non-wings" as faired well in the challenge and sits third in Southwest Region points with high hopes for the season finale.

Jason Johnson and Shane Stewart both enter the 42nd Annual KRONIK Energy Western World Championships presented by Old Tucson Studios with hopes of taking home a $60k check at the November 22nd ASCS Banquet.

The 18th Annual American Sprint Car Series Awards Banquet, Presented by Brodix, will follow directly on the heels of USA Raceway's 42nd Annual KRONIK Energy Western World Championships presented by Old Tucson Studios.
