FOR IMMEDIATE GAFFNEY, SC – August 24, 2024.

Eric Riggins Jr. of Charlotte, NC posted a clean sweep of the United Sprint Car Series Presented by K&N Filters 25-lap Feature Race on Saturday night at Cherokee Speedway. Riggins led all 25 laps of the Main Event from the pole position, he also won the six-lap Hoosier Racing Tire Speed Dash, and he won the Engler Machine & Tool First Heat Race.

It was Riggins’ fifth USCS win of the 2024 season, and his 24th career USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour winged sprint car win. It was additionally his
second USCS win of the season at Cherokee Speedway.

On Friday night, the USCS race at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC. The apparent second place finisher, Lance Moss of Cherryville, NC, was disqualified after he failed to bring his race car to the post-race technical inspection.

Kyle Connery of Vero Beach, FL was awarded the second spot, and he also won the Butlerbuilt Racing Products Second Heat Race. Two National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Inductees finished third and fourth. The 2022 USCS National Champion Danny Smith of Chillicothe, OH was third while the defending and 15-time USCS National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN took the fourth spot.

Luke Hill of Odessa, FL drove to a fifth-place finish and Jeff Willingham of Ripley, MS finished sixth. Scott Hunter of Concord, NC took the seventh spot and eighth went to Brianna Lawson of Jackson Springs, NC. Johnny Bridges of Cherryville, NC was ninth, and Brady Allum of Taylorsville, NC rounded out the top ten.

Riggins took the lead at the start of the race followed by Moss, Connery, Bridges, and Smith. On lap two, Smith passed Bridges for the fourth spot, and then Bridges reclaimed the position on lap four. The top five of Riggins, Moss, Connery, Bridges and Smith remained the same until lap 14 when Bridges spun in turn four to bring out the caution flag. Riggins led Moss, Connery, and Smith, with Gray moving into the top five for the restart. That’s the way they went under the checkered flag after 25 laps, but Moss didn’t stop at the designated USCS Tech Area at the series trailer and went straight to his pit area after the race. That led to Moss’s disqualification.

The next event for the United Sprint Car Series Presented by K&N Filters will be on Saturday, August 31st at Buckshot Speedway in Clanton, AL. On the following night, Sunday, September 1 at the traveling series will be at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.
