July 22nd Weekend
Zumwalt Motorsports made the usual trip to Doe Run on Friday night. With a big event at Macon the next night, Doe Run had some big shot guys including the 66 winner Chris Bell. The night didn't start good when in hot laps fellow driver Matt Ponder who also leads the season standings lost his steering wheel while racing under Jeremy. Matt's car would narrowly miss Jeremy's. For the heat, Jeremy started 2nd in heat #2 but by the end of the race had slipped back to 4th. This forced the team to start 11th in the feature but the track was very slick and only one groove so our night ended in only a 9th place finish.
Saturday the team made the trip out to Marion, IL instead of running the big money race at Macon. This would be the first race at Southern Illinois Raceway in 2011. During hot laps, the car was one of the fastest. With only 7 cars entered, there was one heat in which Jeremy started 4th. Jeremy quickly moved into 2nd on the start and by the time it was all over Jeremy had taken the lead and one the heat race. The next race was the dash, the team had to start 4th again and work up to the front. Jeremy was only able to get to 2nd but this got the car to start on the front row for the feature. Feature time came and Jeremy ran 2nd for a couple laps then made the move to the inside of race leader Alexandra Cook. Alexandra would come down and bang wheels with Jeremy but he prevailed and would lead the rest of the feature to pick up another win in 2011.
