Parts & Pieces: PRI 2014
Its winter time and that means its time for new parts and pieces on the race cars. There is no better way to kick that off than the largest motorsports trade show in North America, the Performance Racing Industry show (PRI) in Indianapolis, Indiana.
This past week the Bruce Bernhardt owned Ekeys-4-Cars, Butler MacMaster, Unique Ford Fusion headed west to take part in 2014 edition of the PRI show; with 27NH taking front and center stage in the Ford Racing booth.
Situated between two Ford cutaway D347SR engine blocks the self-designed Wayne Helliwell Jr. Chassis and all the products that make it possible were on display for the shows entirety. An opportunity not lost by Team owner Bruce Bernhardt.
“Mike [Delahanty – Director of Ford Racing Performance Short Track Racing] called and asked if we would like to have the car in the booth, I couldn’t say yes fast enough”, stated Bernhardt. “PRI is such an important part of racing, to have an opportunity to be part of the show is a huge deal; for it to be in the Ford [Racing] booth is very cool.”
The PRI Show features over 1100 exhibitors from 70 countries and all 50 states with the latest in racing products and engineering from all walks of the Motorsports world over a three-day trade show. The show allows owners, drivers, Teams and manufactures to meet, connect and put a name with a face for all the products that make racing possible.
Team driver Wayne Helliwell Jr. is honored with the opportunity to have the car be a part of such large event. “Honestly it’s humbling to be a part of the show”, stated Helliwell. “The fact that our car, a Team from Pelham, NH can be a part of the Ford Racing booth in a setting this big is something I could have never imaged. How can you not be proud of that…”
Helliwell jokes the point of the show is to leave with more stickers for the car than it came with; stickers representing the actual parts on the car.
“We wanna to use the best parts and products on our cars just like every Team does”, stated Helliwell. The show gives us a chance to meet these people [manufactures] we talk to all year long and see what great products may give us an edge over everyone else...”
