Unzicker notches fifth-place finish in Prairie Dirt Classic preliminary feature
Taking part in the rescheduled One for the Road event, Ryan Unzicker joined a stout field of 64 Castrol FloRacing Night in America entries at Fairbury (IL) Speedway on Wednesday for the $20,000-to-win opener.
Following a seventh-to-fifth heat showing, Ryan fell short of transferring into the main event with a fifth-place outing in his B-Main.
Back at the Illinois oval on Friday, Ryan’s qualifying effort positioned him on the fourth row of his showdown feature. Gunning for the $5,000 preliminary payday, Unzicker muscled forward two spots in the 25-lap affair to register a fifth-place finish. He chased Ryan Gustin, Nick Hoffman, McKay Wenger, and Kyle Bronson to the checkers.
Rolling off on the front row of his B-Main on Saturday, Unzicker got taken out by another competitor early that forced him to pull off. Receiving a provisional into the $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic finale, Ryan was an early retiree from the 100-lapper with handling issues.
