Pair of MARS runner-ups at Jacksonville and I-55
For a pair of events with the MARS Championship Series, Ryan Unzicker traveled to Jacksonville Speedway (Jacksonville, Ill.) on Friday for the Wild Man Kelly Classic.
With a heat victory placing him on the second row for the $5,000-to-win opener, Unzicker made a late charge to contest race-long pacesetter Jason Feger but came up 0.287-seconds short at the line.
Pulling double duty on Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.), Ryan grabbed a pair of top-fives in his RJR Transportation No. 24 Late Model and the Shaw Racing No. 1U Modified. Following a fourth-place finish in the Modified feature, Unzicker charged forward six spots in the 40-lap MARS Championship Series feature to finish second. He chased Gordy Gundaker to the checkers with Jason Feger rounding out the podium.
