Garett Goodwin
Goodwins Last Race In A Legends Car
Garett and the Hansen Crew showed up for the final time this year at Illiana Motor Speedway this past Saturday night. The team showed up to the track with new tricks up their sleeves that they have been wanting to try all year. As it was the last race of the year, the team thought they could try and leave with a big bang! However, as practice went on, Garett and the team were struggling to get the car right for the feature. When qualifying came, they hoped their new set up would work, but however it got Goodwin a 9th place qualifying time. Before the heat race came by, Garett and the team hurried to change the rear end gear and change tires. The heat race finally came and Garett was starting in the 2nd position. The green flag dropped and Goodwin was battling for the first position, but was also fighting to keep his position for 2nd. Garett dropped back to the 3rd position, but it didn't take him long to take the lead and go on to take the Fast Heat win. The feature race came up and that #29 Hansen Motorsports/K1 Race Gear Legends Car was rolling off in the 9th position. When the green flag dropped, Goodwin was on a mission to the front. As the field got more spread out, Garett was slowly working his way up as the laps were dining down. Goodwin crossed the finish line in 4th place, but the 2nd place car got DQ'd for being under weight. Garett ended up finishing in 3rd place for his final ride in a Legends Car.
"The car handled really good. If we didn't start as far back as we did, I believe we would have had a chance for the win," Goodwin says, " However, I am pleased with a top 5 finish for it being my last race in the car."
