Bill Unglert of Old Bridge, NJ, recorded another consistent year of competition behind the wheel of a wingless sprint car with the Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series in 2020. The full time series competitor had another season where it felt as though a win could come on any given night, but never materialized for the team in the shortened season.
Unglert had another extremely consistent year in 2020, as he was having in 2019, before an unfortunate flip would end his 2019 series campaign. Unglert’s second season with the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars would see him qualify for all thirteen feature events, collecting twelve top ten finishes, three top 5’s, one DNF in the series finale at Big Diamond, and two heat race victories. Unglert had a season best third place finish at the Big Diamond Speedway in the July event.
While the team did not collect a victory in 2020, they certainly were in competition on multiple occasions with Bill being heavily involved in the outcome of the events at Big Diamond in July, Williams Grove, Delaware International, and the Georgetown Speedway in October.
With another full season of events planned by the series, perhaps the increased number of events will allow Unglert and his team to break through and collect their first series win, or multiple wins on the 2021 Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series, Presented by Capitol Renegade.
