Starks Earns Top-Five Finish at Jackson Motorplex as Knoxville Finale Nears

Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (Aug. 20, 2019) – Trey Starks scored his third top five of the season at Jackson Motorplex last Saturday to remain in the hunt for the track championship.

The Gobrecht Motorsports driver was efficient every time he hit the 4/10-mile oval, which hosted a Midwest Power Series and Midwest Sprint Touring Series event.

Starks maneuvered from fourth to second place in a heat race and from third to second in the dash. That lined him up on the inside of the second row for the A Main.

“We did a good job of moving forward early in the night to set ourselves up for a great starting position in the main event,” he said. “We battled a tight race car, which a lot of drivers did in the feature. That hurt us as far as moving forward, but we had a great race with a couple of drivers between third and fifth.”

Starks capped the night with a fourth-place result, which was his fifth overall top five of the season and third in five 360ci winged sprint car starts at Jackson Motorplex this season. He ranks fourth in the championship standings – only 12 points out of the lead with three races remaining.

“We’re confident every time we head to Jackson so we’re looking forward to the three races at the end of this month,” he said. “Now our focus is on wrapping up the season with a strong result at Knoxville this weekend.”

The team heads to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, this Saturday for the track’s season finale. Starks enters the event ranked eighth in the championship standings. He is atop the Rookie of the Year standings.
