Inside Line Promotions (March 7) – If seat time is the most important ingredient in making a successful racer, Trey Starks is on the hot track.

Starks, who turned 15-years-old on Sunday, recorded a pair of top 20s against the World of Outlaws last Wednesday and Thursday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. More importantly, he left the track with loads of invaluable seat time against some of the best drivers in the sport.

“We got a lot more laps and learned a lot more about the car, and how these 410s work,” said Starks, who has now raced approximately 10 times with a 410 engine. “They have way more power and you have to use way more throttle control.”

The Puyallup, Wash., resident qualified 22nd and finished eighth in his heat races both nights. As each event wore on, Starks performed better.

On Wednesday, Starks drove from fourth to third in the B Main and earned a transfer into the feature. He then raced to a career-best 17th from his 22nd starting position.

“I was a little unstable on how to run the cushion for a little bit,” Starks said. “I didn’t really figure it out until the second night. It was a pretty good learning experience. Actually, the whole week was.”

Starks again started 22nd on Thursday and he finished 19th, his second-best finish ever with the World of Outlaws.

Starks will hit the track next on Saturday at the Mini Gold Cup with the World of Outlaws at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif. It will be Starks’ first time racing at the famed quarter-mile track.
