Isaac Schreurs To Drive for 56-Inc. at Great Clips Battle of the Center in Du Quoin
DU QUOIN, Ill. (Dec. 17, 2014)— 56 Inc., owned by Shane Hmiel and Levi Jones, is proud to announce that Isaac Schreurs will drive their No. 56 entry in the fifth annual Great Clips Battle at the Center at the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin, Ill. on December 20th. The pairing of Hmiel and Schreurs has special meaning to both men, both of whom suffered tragic accidents and have worked hard to overcome daunting challenges to find success in racing – Schreurs as a driver and Hmiel as a car owner.
Schreurs has made headlines over the last couple of years as he set out to make a career out of racing sprint cars. In 2010, he started racing in the USRA Sprint Car class at Huset’s Speedway. In just his first race he posted an impressive fourth-place finish. A determined Schreurs went on to capture his very first win along with 13 top-five and 22 top-10 finishes in his rookie year. Since then, he has continued to impress fans and fellow racers with his on-track performance. Last season, Schreurs made history by becoming the first paraplegic to win an ASCS 360 sprint feature.
“I never thought I would have such a cool opportunity with racing,” said Hmiel. “Being a paralyzed driver myself, when Isaac popped up I knew I had to find a way to get him in the Shanes Spark car to show what us handicaps can still do.”
