(White Lightning Motorsports) –

This week the L & J Automotive #5Jr would race on Saturday at the Knoxville Raceway in the 360 division. After being rained out Friday in the 305 class I was eager to get on the track with the 360’s. We would be the support class for the World of Outlaws.

On Saturday there were twenty five cars entered in the 360 class. In time trials I would end up timing in tenth position. I would register my fastest time at a 16.492. In my opinion timing tenth was good because it got me towards the front of a heat race somewhat and also gave me a good chance to hit the invert for the feature.

For the heat race I would line up inside second row (p3). The initial start would take place and the pole sitter, #7K of Matt Stephenson would jump the start and it would be called back. The #7K would end up getting penalized one row starting position and I would inherit the pole. On the second restart I would jump out to the lead and would lead three laps before getting challenged by #D12 of Dennis Moore Jr. Moore Jr would take over the lead and I would settle into second before the #40 of Clint Garner would pass me on the white flag. I would go to finish third place, and transfer to the A-Feature.

Next up was the A-Feature and I hit the invert just like I had hoped. The invert was a ten and I was the ninth fastest car to make the A-Feature. This would line me up for A-Feature on the front row outside. This is the first time I have ever started further forward than thirteenth in a 360 A-feature. I was excited and nervous all at the same time but once I strapped in the sprint car all the nerves went away and it was just another race. The green flag would fly and the race would start, down the front stretch the pole sitter of #2M Matt Moro would cut in front of me and we would rub his right rear to my right front. Throughout the duration of the race I would lose a spot here of there until I got settled in the 6th position. I was running the bottom really well for three out of the four corners. I could not seem to stick it off turn two. Every time I got passed was off turn two. With 1 lap to go #33 of Alan Zoutte would get upside down and a green, white, checkered would ensue. On that restart the #7TAZ of Tasker Phillips would once again get upside down with one lap to go. This would bring a white, checkered restart. On the restart I would have a terrible start and lose two spots and go on to finish in eighth place. This would be my first top ten finish in the 360 division. I wanted a better result but after watching the tapes and seeing myself race with drivers like; Clint Garner, Dennis Moore Jr, and Chad Humston I really have a higher amount of confidence when it comes to racing with the 360 class. Overall it was a great night and I am really looking forward to twin feature night in the 360 class.
The next time that White Lightning Motorsports plans to race is on Saturday June 18th in the 305 class.
