CLAUSON, GRAVEL, STEWART SET FOR FRIDAY'S DELTA SPEEDWAY OPENER

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (March 17, 2015) – Delta Speedway will host one of its most highly anticipated season openers in track history, when the 1/7th mile dirt oval fires off for another season of racing this Friday at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds. The Friday Night Special will serve as the kick off for the 2015 FVP Western Spring Shootout. The Western Spring Shootout will feature the World of Outlaws in two nights of action at the adjacent Stockton Dirt Track.

Four divisions of Micro Sprint action will take to the clay with the Super 600 division coming loaded with professional drivers. World of Outlaws championship contenders Shane Stewart and David Gravel, USAC National Driver's champion Bryan Clauson, 2015 Tulsa Shootout winner Michael Faccinto, 2014 Turkey Bowl winner Colby Copeland, and 2014 High Banks Hustle winner Jake Hagopian will take on the local Micro stars.

Oklahoma's Stewart and Connecticut's' Gravel both started their storied careers in Micros and currently race in the WoO for California car owners. Stewart drives for Kyle Larson and Justin Marks, both hailing from Northern California while Gravel drives for Dennis and Theresa Roth. Clauson will compete for the inaugural NSL championship in the Midwest for car owner Matt Wood out of Elk Grove, CA.

Stewart comes into Friday's special event as the WoO points leader. Friday's races will see Stewart paired with Copeland in Team Silco PMPs. Gravel will be teamed with Tulsa Shootout winner Alex Panella in Bob Panella-owned Paces. Clauson and Hagopian will be paired in Shawn Conde-owned D1 chassis and Faccinto will drive a CS9 chassis for Kasiner.

Gio Scelzi, Tucker Worth, and Dahne Lynn McKay are other possible entries with Tulsa Shootout "Golden Drillers" in their mantles.

Don't miss the equally as impressive non-wing division at Delta Speedway. The Worth cousins out of Coalinga won both the Super 600 and non-wing races at the last Winter Series event and the local drivers will have their eyes on knocking them off the top of the podium.

For a glimpse at racing's future stars, the track's youngest drivers race in the Restricted and Jr. Sprint divisions. The Restricted class is one of the fastest growing with 16 entries at the recent Winter Series race. Both fields are full of Quarter Midget graduates who hope to race professionally some day with Stewart and Gravel.

Contingency awards will be offered by HT Performance, Oak Farm Vineyards, JDA Enterprises, Wildhorse Consulting, Motion Media, Performance Wings, and Ink Crate Photography

Friday's action kicks off a busy season that races through the end of October with the prestigious Turkey Bowl.

On Friday, gates will open at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12, seniors 55+ and military, with kids 5 and under free! Pit passes are just $20. The drivers' meeting will be at 5:30 with hot laps, qualifying, and racing to follow.
